Getting started with R for busy people is out

Dear all,

First of all, I wish you a happy new year! I truly hope this new year will bring to you and to your loved ones all the joy and happiness you and them deserve.

For me, 2023 is up to a great start. I am indeed thrilled and delighted to release my first online course Getting started with R for busy people!

I wrote my first line of R code in 2014. I learned R all by myself, and I won’t lie: it has not exactly been an easy ride. Despite the challenges, R has since become the center stage of my professional life. This is a testimony of how much I love R, and of my perseverance.

The course is many things. It is an introductory course. It is enjoyable and rewarding. It is ambitious and easy to approach. It is for everyone. But most importantly, it is the course I wish I had when I started back in 2014. This is the question I asked myself the most while I was writing it: “if my self of 2014 had known this, how much time would have I saved afterwards?”.

I designed the course with busy people in mind. Sure, busy people need a course that is fast to complete. But busy people also need to be productive with their time. The course does not just teach the basics of R, RStudio and the Tidyverse. The course also teaches how to work productively with R, and how to learn more by yourself post-completion. Busy people need to work productively—today, but also tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

R is a terrific and powerful language. I use it almost on a daily basis. Every time I launch RStudio, I always feel the same joy. One of my goals was to translate as much of this joy into the course.

I hope the course will help you to learn R and to become a productive R user!

Happy coding with R!
